For one, I'm over the King of Pop's demise ! Phew.
Allahyarham Yasmin Ahmad passed away on July 25. She will be missed so so much. Sigh. Kudos to Astro for the special channel "Yasmin Ahmad Dalam Kenangan" that ended transmission last week. The painful bit was they only had two films i.e. Sepet and Gubra, looped with well-made interstitials and The Making Of docus. If only they had Rabun. Her Petronas commercials brought tears to my eyes on many many occasions - the most memorable ones are Tan Hong Ming In Love (who could forget that child!), the Black & White one that had a child 'charging' his father for the housechores that he did and the commercial Kak Min did for a Singaporean Ministry titled Funeral. What lovely, lovely works of art!
Then in this month, Ustaz Asri Ibrahim of Rabbani passed away. What a loss! He and his golden voice will be missed. Alfatihah to Allahyarham Kak Min and Allahyarham Ustaz Asri Ibrahim.
I want to wish you Ramadhan Mubarak! I want to make Ramadhan a more meaningful month with more efforts to execute good deeds, more Quran reading, more solat, more dzikr, more patience, more sadaqah, more forgiving, more zuhud, more good intentions, eat less, whine less and so on. Yes I admit it is an uphill struggle to overcome the Self or Nafs. Self-reform is absolutely necessary and Ramadhan is the best time to kick-start it.
So there you go. Let's put in the extra effort and be better servants to Him.
